A stone cold classic, the Tech 21 SansAmp GT2 amp pedal is able to mimic a stack of vintage favourites, ranging from pure and singing cleans to extreme and stomping distortions. Set up for both electric guitar and bass, this stompbox can initially be shifted into 'Tweed' mode for a Fender-style experience; British mode for a Marshall style experience; or California mode for a more boutique Mesa Boogie style experience. From there, you're free to select one of three different microphone positions and, via the High and Low tone controls and the Drive pot, your can start carving out your bespoke sonic tsunami.

The Tech 21 SansAmp GT2: Complete Control

Set the Mic slide-switch to Classic and your virtual microphone is set up at a distance from your virtual cabinet; set it to Center and your mic is pointed at the middle of your speaker cone; set it to Off-Axis and it's pointed at the edge. Meanwhile, the central Mod slide-switch dictates how 'modded' your amp sounds: Clean gives you your basic pedal foundation; Hi-Gain makes it sound like a second 12AX7 valve has been installed'; and Hot Wired lays on a scooped mid-range - ideal for more brutal distortions. Dial this pedal in to evoke the sound of legends or play around to create your own beautiful, amp-based Frankensteins.
